Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD is a downloadable title for Xbox LIVE Arcade, PlayStation Network, and PC that takes the best elements of the classic THPS games and gives them a fresh update to create an all new skateboarding experience. Tapping into fans’ muscle memories, the gameplay returns to controllers and focuses on the satisfaction of linking sick tricks for maximum points. Combining sharp visuals with the best controls ever in a Tony Hawk game, the feel is cutting edge yet timeless. The game was rebuilt and polished by Robomodo using Neversoft’s original code and includes the best seven levels from THPS and THPS2 (Warehouse, School 2, Mall, Phoenix, Hangar, Marseilles and Venice). There is a combination of new school and old school pros (Nyjah Huston, Chris Cole, Eric Koston, Andrew Reynolds, Rodney Mullen, Lyn-z Adams Hawkins Pastrana, Riley Hawk and Tony Hawk himself) and the soundtrack is half classic THPS tracks and fresh ones. Multiple online multiplayer modes round out the action!

Also, there is downloadable content for the game: the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 HD Revert Pack. It expands on the game’s winning formula with the three levels from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 (Airport, Los Angeles, and Canada). Skateboarding legends Steve Caballero and Geoff Rowley are included as well as James Hetfield and Robert Trujillo from Metallica, and the Revert move makes its return for mind-blowing combos!

Tony Hawk Pro Skater Soundtrack 2

The Tony Hawk series has been known for their impressive soundtracks, with the first game introducing many skaters to songs like Goldfinger’s Superman and a variety of great punk and ska tunes. Activision is hoping to keep the ball-bearing rolling with the current series revival effort, and has released the complete soundtrack for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5. It’s got some large shoes to fill, but fans can be the ultimate judge on how it compares to previous generations of the series.

Fans got their first taste of the new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater from the initial gameplay trailer about a month ago, which provided the first real look at a Pro Skater game since 2002, back when they were developed by Neversoft. Now it’s Robomodo’s time to step up to the developer’s plate, and all eyes will be on them to see if they can recapture the magic that the old games consistently delivered.

There are 32 listed songs in all, which means it has far more songs than the first three titles ever did, which had dramatically less musical content but hit the nail on the head for each track that made it into each game.

Here’s the full soundtrack for fifth Pro Skater, which boasts a decent mix of well-known tunes and some great tracks most won’t have heard of before. Not all of the featured bands actually had their songs uploaded officially online, but Activision provided links to the tunes wherever possible for your listening pleasure:

The game underwent a large visual change to keep things running at a smooth 60 frames per second during online multiplayer (which won’t be a feature for those on last generation consoles), and many fans were off-put by the cel-shaded cartoon style that the game switched to. Activision will be hoping a strong audio lineup will appease anyone put-off from the dramatic visual changes, and hopefully the series can ride back on track from whatever dark place Tony Hawk: Shred and Tony Hawk: Ride brought them.
